Job Summary
The Materials Planner is for ensuring material availability to support uninterrupted production operations and achieve target kit completion, revenue, On-Time Delivery (OTD), and inventory goals. This role oversees material planning, monitoring, and coordination with procurement, internal teams, and AE sites to ensure timely and cost-effective material movement. The position also supports inventory visibility, shortage management, demand fulfillment, and operational reporting through proactive planning and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Revenue Support
- Ensure timely material availability and kit completion based on MIH and production requirements within the planning window
- Analyze material demand, shortages, and supply commitments to support monthly and annual revenue targets
- Coordinate closely with Purchasing and suppliers regarding material expedites, pull-ins, and delivery commitments
- Monitor material requirements and proactively address shortages impacting production continuity
- Plan, coordinate, and execute inter-site material transfers to support demand, shortage recovery, and inventory optimization
- Ensure alignment of material plans with production schedules and customer requirements
- Provide timely updates and material outlooks for both internal and external customer requirements
On-Time Delivery & Inventory Management
- Drive on-time delivery of materials to support production schedules and customer commitments
- Expedite critical materials and collaborate with Procurement during pull-ins, demand surges, or supply constraints
- Monitor open transfer orders and proactively escalate delays, risks, or potential supply interruptions
- Maintain visibility and accuracy of inventory in transit across AE sites
- Generate material summary reports and escalation dashboards for critical customer and management reviews
- Support inventory optimization initiatives and maximize inventory consumption through demand and inventory alignment
Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Production, and other functional teams to ensure material readiness
- Facilitate regular meetings and follow-ups to support critical material requirements and customer escalations
- Prepare and present reports, materials outlooks, summaries, and performance updates for management reviews
- Provide accurate demand and supply analysis to support decision-making and operational planning
- Ensure timely escalation of material risks affecting production continuity or customer delivery performance
Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Support adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and compliance programs
- Participate in Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) activities and safety initiatives
- Report near misses, unsafe conditions, and operational risks during toolbox meetings and related forums
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to materials planning, inventory accuracy, and supply chain efficiency
- Support process improvements that enhance service levels, planning accuracy, and operational performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business or any related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in materials planning, production planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, material planning processes, and inventory management principles
- Experience in manufacturing or electronics manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
