Position Summary

The Global Software Asset Manager is responsible for the strategic management and governance of software assets across the enterprise, including both on-premise and cloud environments. This role drives Software Asset Management (SAM) maturity, ensures license compliance, optimizes software spend, and aligns licensing strategy with business and IT transformation initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the global Software Asset Management (SAM) strategy and governance.
  • Oversee lifecycle of software assets including procurement, deployment, utilization, and retirement.
  • Ensure compliance with vendor licensing agreements and manage audit risk.
  • Lead software license audits and vendor true-ups.
  • Drive cost optimization and eliminate unused licenses.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and IT on licensing strategies.
  • Manage vendor relationships for major software providers.
  • Implement and enhance SAM tools (e.g., ServiceNow SAM, Flexera).
  • Provide executive reporting on compliance and cost optimization.
  • Align licensing strategy with cloud and SaaS environments.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, Finance, or related field. Relevant certifications preferred (CSAM, ITIL, FinOps)
  • 7+ years in Sofware Assess Management or related discipline. Experience in global, hybrid IT environments and vendor audits.
  • Advanced knowledge in software licensing models.
  • Experience with SAM tools and platforms.
  • Understanding of enterprise vendor licensing frameworks.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills.
