Position Summary:
Join our Medical Design Group as an Engineering Technician II and support the development, verification, and release of advanced medical power supply products. Working closely with Electrical, Firmware, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers, you will build, test, troubleshoot, and validate prototype and production-representative hardware to support new product development, sustaining engineering, and customer programs.
Responsibilities
- Works as part of a cross-functional team, balancing time and scope to meet product requirements and project schedules, collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management teams.
- Execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) and support design validation activities.
- Support prototype builds, engineering evaluations, verification testing, and pilot production activities.
- Assist engineering teams with product characterization, debugging, and root cause investigations.
- Support engineering change implementation and validation activities.
- Document test results, discrepancies, and observations to support engineering investigations, verification, and validation activities.
- Demonstrates strong circuit troubleshooting skills for moderately complex electronic assemblies.
- Ability to determine root cause faults down to component level and contribute towards development improvements.
- Uses specifications, drawings, schematics, and verbal/written instructions to test and troubleshoot units.
- Maintains fixturing, performs calibration, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance.
- Documents development notes, corrective actions, test procedures, and test results accurately and completely.
- Communicates openly and effectively in a professional manner and work under limited supervision.
- Initiates and contributes to improving processes, lead times, throughput and cost reductions.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures while working with low- and high-voltage power conversion equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic PC programs. (i.e., Excel, Word, etc.)
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or technical degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies and power conversion products.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, test procedures, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, electronic loads, and other laboratory test equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies to component level.
- Knowledge of ESD practices and safe laboratory procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting new product development (NPI) programs.
- Experience executing Design Verification Testing (DVT) and validation activities.
- Experience working within ISO 13485 or regulated product-development environments.
- Experience supporting development or testing of medical electrical equipment and familiarity with IEC 60601 requirements.
- Experience with SAP, MRP systems, and engineering change processes.
- Experience assisting with development, modification, and maintenance of engineering test fixtures and automated test systems.
