Title:  Senior Engineering Coordinator

OVERALL MISSION / PURPOSE

Senior Engineering Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, parts, assemblies, and information between sections or departments from pro-active build through Mass Production. This position is the focal point for material and material issues for a program. Engineering Coordinator assumes total material ownership during the New Product Design Phases and into Mass Production. In addition, this position manages BOM, Mix-sourced BOM, PCS, and Engineering Change Orders needed for a program. 

 

KEY RESULTS AREAS / DUTIES,  RESPONSIBILITIES & TIME SPENT ON THE DUTY

1. Bill of Material (BOM) Management

- Create BOMs for NPI programs and is responsible for the processing of the BOM in the ERP system

- Make sure necessary changes are followed through on and BOM is updated timely

- Mixed-source BOM creation and maintenance

- Part number booking for fabricated parts and assemblies

- Dispositions of material

- Assist DE in BOM management

- Keep team informed of issues / concerns

 

2. Engineering Change Order Management

- Create Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in support of Engineering, ensuring rules and procedures are followed and details well understood

- Process Change Orders in the ERP system.  Ensures all relevant people are expeditiously advised of changes to materials.  Work implementation dates on CO to meet design needs and minimize scrapping materials that could have been used, which may mean changing effectively date to coincide with changing build plans

- Reviews, approves, sets effective date and implements ECOs.  Sends notification to team

 

3. Supply / Material Management

- Controls the purchase of unique and/or unreleased materials to support build plan of early prototypes, pilot runs and production ramp up until materials are stable in the design

- Process purchase requisitions to the NPI and MRO buyers. Provide follow-up to insure correct revisions and delivery dates are maintained to meet build plan

- Order parts as needed to support DRV testing, Safety Testing and special requests

- Expedite purchase orders and materials

- Work to find solutions for unresolved component issues

- Process material rejects as required

- Identifies risk buys for long lead time and hard to get parts

- Works with NPP to monitor material for upcoming builds

 

4. Product Costing

- Responsible for processing BOM in SharePoint PCS (product costing system) for product costing in NPI and RFQ

- Process EQR (engineering quotation request) for zero cost items and new parts to complete product costing

 

5. Program Maintenance/Monitoring

- Reviews factory schedules and Build Plan to ensure the demand and materials are driving correctly in the ERP system

- Attend all Core Team Meetings prepared to discuss all materials and documentation issues

- Monitor programs to make sure material arrives to meet the schedules

- Monitor Material Outlook reports

- Keep team informed of issues / concerns

 

6. Other Project Responsibilities

- Create Internal Sales Orders (ISO) to drive demand on the factories for Engineering Evaluation, QAV, HALT and safety units

- Coordinate material transfer between engineering and factory

- Prepare materials to support build in engineering

- Coordinates sample and load board builds with the factory in support of QAV, Engineering and Manufacturing

- Assist in release of design drawings and documents from Engineering to Production

- Initiate obsolescence process on down rev parts and assemblies

- Support programs after release to Mass Production as needed

- Support Design Engineering as required

 

7. Timely reporting to the Senior Officer, Engineering Coordination

- Work closely with the Senior Engineering Coordinator and ask for guidance on handling different types of projects
