Title:  Service Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Service Engineer performs troubleshooting and repairing of electronic equipment to meet delivery the schedules and performance standards.  He or she receives instructions on daily work and new assignments from Supervisor or Manager of service operations. Duties and tasks are standardized but what is performed will vary day to day

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Performs troubleshootings, mechanical repair and assembly operations on RMA units.
  • Fully testing units after repair to determine that it meets AE specifications.
  • Determines and implements any additional non-break services that may be required during the repair process.
  • Accurately and completely documents repair activities and test results.
  • Participates in creation of repair quotes.
  • Provides failure analysis data to the Quality department.
  • Perform Calibration and preventive maintenance of test fixtures and test stations on the repair lines
  • Perform corrective maintenance of all test fixtures and test stations.
  • Performs the setup, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where the ability to recognize nonconformities is required.
  • Considers the impact of quality on customers when making decisions.
  • Communicates openly and effectively with all colleagues in a professional manner.
  • Understands and follows all safety requirements.
  • Understands and follows all ISO practices and procedures.
  • May act as a technical interface with other departments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in a service center or manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast-paced. 
  • Many tasks are repetitive in motion and include the use of electronic assembly equipment. 
  • Overtime may be required in times of increased RMA.
  • Must be willing to work shifts (may include weekends and rotate between day and night shift or three shifts schedule).
  • Light travel may be required from time to time, domestic or international, to assist in training or with customer issues.

                                                                         

SKILLS:

  • Must have strong electro-mechanical problem-solving attributes.
  • Able to operate a variety of electrical test instrumentation
  • Soldering skills required
  • Proven ability and experience maintaining flexibility and being able to adapt in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of ESD practices

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works on RMA repair & assy under supervision.
  • Understand and use test programs for products.
  • Understand and proceed the periodic PM evaluation for test equipment.
  • Cross-trained on multiple product platforms.
  • Understand and use test programs for products.
  • Works under minimal supervision for repair of RMA’s.
  • Strong understanding and compliance with Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts
  • Ability to support FA process by performing deep dive testing.
  • Proficient in all pertinent SAP applications.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

Basic knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred

 

Desirable:

Typically has 5 – 8 years of experience in related field

 

EDUCATION:

Essential:

Associates Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
