Title:  Sr Commodity Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:      

This position manages and provides support to the supply chain leadership of the following functional areas: Production, Logistics, Receiving, Purchasing, Test, Production Engineering, and Training. This position is primarily responsible for continuity of supply of high quality, on-time product from key contract manufacturers engaged by AE. The position manages, directly & indirectly, all functions related to ensuring availability of the contract manufactured into the AE factory or to AE’s customers.

                                                                                                               

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Provide management support for CM businesses and procurement activities as related.

  2. Primary contact point of internal workflows, delegations, escalations within AE factories for assigned CM.

  3. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, internal and external.

  4. Oversees Supplier performance governance on OTDIF and Quality.

  5. Commercial and System Data Management- Quotes analyze, CN/DN processing, PPV management, Suppliers Audit.

  6. Primary contact point for CM support from internal AE teams such as Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Planning, and Operations.

  7. Acts as the primary owner of supply to AE’s factories for assigned contract manufactured products for system information updating.

  8. Cooperates with Commodity Managers to provide the overall coordination of the supply chain to ensure continuity of supply and meet corporate strategic needs. This includes helping to ensure the timely delivery of quality parts consistent with cost targets.

  9. Provide management support and long-term corrective action for supplier escalations to ensure continuity of supply.

  10. Maintain compliance with corporate and manufacturing operations policies and procedures.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang

  • Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).

  • Travel required approximately 25% of time both domestic and international.

  • Primarily works in a fast-paced office environment and a manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast paced. 

  • Remote opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to improve inefficient processes and workflows.

  • Capability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively and professionally to the rapid changing requirements.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate and set priorities.

  • Strong understanding of SAP and the ability to apply to manufacturing processes.

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of demand-based manufacturing systems.

  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word and MS Standard Office. 

  • Strong organizational skills. 

  • Ability to work on several/many projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to motivate others in a team environment.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing and Operations Management.

  • Experience in and understanding lean manufacturing practices.

  • Experience in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience in buyer, industrial and costing engineer, quote specialist and data analyst and planners are encourage to apply.  

  • Career progression to Asistant Supplier Manager minimum with 3 years and Supplier Manager with 5 years of demonstrated leadership and supply chain management experience. 

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Production, Operations Management (or closely related field) or a combination of relevant experience and education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

  • APICS CPIM Certification/classes strongly desired.

  • Six-Sigma training/ Green Belt certification desired
