Title: Director, Industrial Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the global Industrial Engineering leadership, to align the manufacturing strategy of industrial roadmap to all the sites. Driving the master layout and line design of site in same standard and be flexible in fulfilling business needs, which include the shop floor or site consolidations. Also be responsible for the line & shop floor upgrade with i4.0 and BIC elements, so as to achieve efficient High Mix Low Volume manufacturing.
Plan the shop floor space utilization with focus in capacity utilization, considering different approaches like dedicated line, work centers, and flexible cell line approaches in the layout. Managing the overall capacity and capability planning for all sites. Work concurrently and collaboratively with the factory IE in the roadmap execution and capex spending.
In NPI, will be the owner of the Manufacturing Site Selection Process (MSSP) to identify the most appropriate and efficient site for the new businesses, which tie to the overall manufacturing industrial roadmap.
Standard time standardization is also one of the key alignments, which can allow the sites to measure the productivity in same standard, which can be leading to effective resources planning. In migrating to the Next Generation ERP (SAP S4 Hana), the routing and work center format will be the same for all sites, the global IE Director will be the direct responsible person in the data setup and factory productivity measurement.
Furthermore, the IE Director will be involved in a critical product costing review, to ensure the job content and standard time used can be competitive. Besides, also manage the automation opportunities with good ROI justification as well as implementation plan and further opportunities with the factory IE and ME teams.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Space & Layout Management
- Working closely with Ops leadership in defining the direction and approaches which enhancing the factory performance.
- Leading the factory IE teams in accommodate the company direction in maximise the production efficiency by having various concepts in different lines, like workcenter, dedicated and cell lines.
- Driving the space efficiency in the layout to ensure both production expansion and new businesses are accommodated by proactive approaches in maximizing the output revenue per square foot.
- Responsible for both layout and relayout activities of the factories, as the final approval.
- Works closely with Lean team to ensure continuous improvement in both the layout and the process flow.
- Capacity & Capability management
- Responsible for Manufacturing industrial roadmap management, by reviewing the new and existing business needs to ensure the capacity of site is enough.
- Resources management which cover both labor, equipment and the critical resources, also work out the most effective model groupings.
- Also review the overall capex spending in all sites to make sure investment made wisely, with the consideration of asset transfer or upgrading.
- Also the owner of the Manufacturing Site Selection Process (MSSP) in NPI to select the most appropriate factory and align with the roadmap.
- Capability review based on New Products, New Processes and Latest and greatest equipment available then plan for the annual budget plan, including replacement plan.
- Standard Time & Productivity Management
- Standardize the standard time computation in AEI, one method and for all.
- Overall owner of the standard time set up in ERP, to ensure the standard productivity measurement is available.
- Align the format in Standard time, by using MTM and the work center setup in ERP S4 Hana for all sites.
- Drive for high line balancing rate in production, which can help to improve productivity.
- Manage the annual productivity improvement plan of all sites, as well as the annual standard time adjustment.
- Drive Standard Time validation annually in the key critical models in Mass Production and NPI.
- Product Costing Management
- Review the Standard time set in NPI, also spot any potential automation opportunities in cost & quality improvement.
- Work with factory NPI & PM teams in NPI costing review.
- Handle any Marketing escalation in product costing, leading the factory team in the costing review.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Based in Penang, the individual may travel frequently to WW manufacturing sites in Mexico, Laguna, Cavite, and Thailand.

EXPERIENCE:
- Min. 20 yr Electronics manufacturing experience with automation design an deployment
- Prefer to have box build, PCBA, Product Testing or PSU testing process development experience

EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree in industrial engineering is preferred, other engineering or equivalent discipline; electrical & electronic, mechanical, if with relevant.
