Position Summary

Located in the Seattle area, the Sr. Field Applications Engineer is responsible for providing the sales account team, the corporate product marketing and engineering teams, and customers with technical support in the field necessary to properly apply and operate AE products.  The position is an integral part of AE's efforts to develop and execute plans to secure and defend customer design wins which underpin AE's corporate objectives and is considered a part of the Account Management Team. As a result of the position's extensive and constant engagement with customers, it is also responsible for increasing the number and depth of AE relationships with customers, and for gathering, understanding, and reporting intelligence from the field concerning industry, customer and competitive trends and developments.



  • Experienced power electronic engineer possessing strong technical and interpersonal skills to support the adoption of Advanced Energy power solutions to targeted hyperscale customers in the Seattle Area.
  • Be part of a cross functional team including Sales, Engineering, Marketing and Operations to support the customer and act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams.
  • Should be equally comfortable working with all levels of a customer, from bench level debugging, rework/reprogram PSUs to presenting solution to customer’s technical team.
  • Responsible for working at customer’s qualification lab to support all phases of system qualification of Artesyn standard and custom products.
  • Must have knowledge of digital communication bus such as i2C or CAN bus and firmware reloading/rebooting experience.
  • As a trusted customer advocate, he/she must have the confidence and persuasive skills to earn the respect of engineering leaders both internally and with the customer.
  • Proven fixer – able to drive issues to resolution with a sense of urgency.
  • As part of the North America and Global Technical Support team, collaborate with and assist other FAEs and Technical Support Engineers in North America and Globally on common customer programs and issues.
  • Willingness to travel locally (Bay Area Or Seattle) and minimum 1 domestic trip (US and Canada) per quarter and 1 international trip per year.



  • 3+ years’ design/application experience in power supply and/or other power electronic products.
  • Working experience with digital communication bus such as i2C bus and PMBus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with an electronic engineering background.
