Job Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving product and process quality in manufacturing operations. This role focuses on data analysis, driving corrective actions, supporting NPI and product transfers, and ensuring compliance with quality standards to enhance yield, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Monitoring & Improvement

  • Analyze quality performance data and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Initiate, track, and ensure closure of corrective and preventive actions across cross-functional teams.
  • Continuously drive improvements in yield, reliability, and overall product quality.

 

Production & Quality Governance

  • Lead regular Yield, OATF (Out of the Factory), and Quality Improvement Program (QIP) meetings.
  • Review and validate key quality and production documents, including:
    • Purging Notices
    • MRB (Material Review Board) dispositions
    • RMA (Return Material Authorization) reports
    • ECO (Engineering Change Orders)
    • Label Reference Sheets
    • Work Instruction Sheets (WIS)

 

Issue Management & Escalation

  • Issue Stop Build/Stop Ship notifications for in-process quality concerns when required.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and containment actions for issues under Hold Shipment Notices.
  • Perform corrective action and effectiveness verification for manufacturing line issues.

 

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and present regular reports on yield, OATF, and other quality metrics.
  • Maintain and submit required reports for TL9000 and other regulatory or certification bodies.

 

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Product Transfer

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering (QE) during NPI phase to ensure smooth transition to mass production.
  • Review and update quality plans and ensure all deliverables meet required standards.
  • Support product transfer activities from other sites, including:
    • Qualification planning and execution
    • Monitoring build progress and completion
    • Generating transfer qualification reports

 

Process Optimization

  • Analyze burn-in test yield data and implement strategies to optimize or reduce burn-in cycle time.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives and risk reduction activities.

                                                                                                                                          

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field (preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience in electronics or semiconductor manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and 8D methodology
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
