Job Summary

The Production Manager – NPI, is responsible for leading the successful introduction of new electronic products into manufacturing, from NPI builds (POC, proto, EVT and DVT) through mass production. This role ensures production readiness, cross-functional alignment, and achievement of quality, cost, and delivery targets while meeting customer and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all production-related NPI activities from development transfer to volume manufacturing
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness, including equipment, tooling, manpower, materials, and process documentation
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and Test teams to support smooth product launches
  • Drive pilot builds, first article runs, and ramp-up reviews, ensuring targets for yield, cycle time, and output are met
  • Identify and mitigate NPI risks related to process capability, capacity, quality, and delivery
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, IPC, customer-specific requirements) during NPI
  • Support yield improvement, defect reduction, and root cause analysis during initial builds
  • Monitor NPI costs and support cost reduction and process optimization initiatives
  • Lead, coach, and develop NPI Production supervisors and team leaders
  • Serve as the primary production escalation point for NPI-related issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • With 8 year experience in electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
    and 3+ years in an NPI, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering leadership role
  • Strong background in SMT, PCB Assembly, and/or Box Build operations
  • Strong knowledge of NPI processes, manufacturing transfer, and ramp-up management
  • Working knowledge of process validation, FMEA, SPC, and problem-solving tools (8D, RCA)
  • Proven project management and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Proficient in MS Office and manufacturing systems (ERP/MES preferred)
