Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Global Component Engineering leads a global team for driving the strategic selection, technical assessment, and qualification of off-the-shelf (OTS) components used across the company. This role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and cost efficiency in product design and manufacturing.
Key responsibilities include managing the components database, overseeing qualification processes, reviewing Product Change Notices (PCNs), driving the Preferred Part and Manufacturer Program, and serving as a global technical expert in specific commodity areas. The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to streamline component selection, reduce supply chain risks, and ensure compliance with industry and international standards as well as customer expectations.
Responsilbilities
- Develop and execute the global component engineering strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Oversee selection, qualification, risk assessment, and obsolescence planning for all OTS components.
- Lead the team to perform Component Engineering operations consistently and maintain best practices through SOPs.
- Maintain component data integrity by reviewing and approving IPMR and all related iPro workflows as per iPro Governance.
- Develop a global team of component engineers; foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Partner with design engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing teams to support product performance, cost, and reliability goals.
- Lead implementation of digital tools for component risk tracking and reporting; own the Material Risk Management Report (MRMR) process for NPI development.
- Ensure adherence to global regulatory requirements and internal standards (RoHS, CE, UL).
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and monitor emerging technologies to guide component roadmaps.
- Support identification of alternate equivalents and solutions for EOL components.
- Support cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing and standardization.
- Monitor Alternate Database compliance and recommend improvements.
- Monitor PCN review and approval for all iPro workflows related to OTS components.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in component engineering, with 5+ years in a global leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Solid experience of managing component database
- Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, component lifecycle, supplier engagement, and risk mitigation.
