Position Summary:

Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer II and help bring advanced power supply solutions to life in our Medical Design Group. You'll design and develop mechanical systems that balance performance, reliability, and cost, working with components such as enclosures, heatsinks, cable assemblies, and molded parts. Leveraging thermal, acoustic, and vibration simulations, as well as 3D board layouts and hands-on prototype testing, you'll help transform concepts into robust products that meet customer needs and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Works as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands, with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers.
  • Owns mechanical design activities from concept through production release, including analysis, testing, documentation, and design verification of sheet metal enclosures, bus bars, heat sinks, and other typical electronics cooling mechanisms.
  • Creates mechanical models/drawings to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards, and perform complex analyses of dimensional tolerance.
  • Ability to specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.
  • Design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability.
  • Design product and sub components on supply chain typical manufacturing methods for sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extruding, stamping, and 3D printing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of product development experience involving electromechanical systems, medical devices, or electronic products.
  • Must show advanced computer skills with CAD software, Solidworks, Creo Parametric or similar.
  • Knowledge with Sheet Metal design is desired.
  • Experience using thermal and structural FEA tools to support design decisions and correlate simulation results to physical testing is preferred.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
  • Ability to specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.
  • Ability to evaluate simulated and empirical data, understand error and uncertainty in both methods, correlate the data sets, and ultimately provide multiple solution paths for challenging problems.
  • Ability to self-manage project work from start to finish including conformance to scheduling and cost.
  • Experience participating in medical device development processes, including design controls, risk analysis, verification, validation, and engineering change management is preferred.
  • Experience working within regulated quality systems such as ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulation (21 CFR Part 820), or comparable quality frameworks is preferred.
