POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cost Analyst partners with Product Managers to improve profitability and drive cost optimization across multiple product lines throughout their lifecycle. This role analyzes product and supply chain data to identify opportunities for cost savings, margin improvement, and business growth.
Working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Manufacturing teams, the Cost Analyst helps support data-driven decisions that enhance product competitiveness and operational performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and review product cost data and identify cost improvement opportunities, incl. identification and quantification of the highest cost drivers
- Work with Commodity Management, Supply Chain, and Engineering to develop and implement cost control measures
- Audit how prices are applied in BOMs and drive corrections
- Audit reorder quantities and drive corrections and optimizations
- Review COGS increases by Operations and their justifications, including for Direct Labor Overhead, and implement corrections where applicable
- Track COGS development by product groups and drive cost reduction targets
- Support Supply Chain in finding market buys for obsolete components
- Analyze cost impacts of obsolescence issues and assist with planning of product updates or End-of-life (EOL) implementation
- Assist product managers with data analysis of revenue, market trends, costs, competitors, etc.
- Collect data sets or retrieve internal data, for use in analysis and optimization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in business, engineering, or related fields required.
- Advanced degree, including M.S. or MBA desirable.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in cost analysis, marketing or a product management role.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to proactively find issues and opportunities or lead initiatives to improve product cost.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
- Strong team player.
- Creative problem-solving skills – both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer literacy with ability to use Windows, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Data analysis skills, including retrieving and manipulating large datasets, operating databases, and using programming and visualization tools, are preferred.
