Title:  Supervisor, Logistics

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the performance and cost of Logistics in Malaysia. He/She will manage all 3PL Warehouse and Logistics/Transportation Service Providers in Malaysia to ensure service excellence and network optimization for Advanced Energy. He/she will be leading team of approximately 10-20 staff to help him/her to meet the objectives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises day-to-day operations of assigned team members, providing guidance, scheduling tasks, and ensuring work output meets quality and performance standards.
  2. Accountable for the 3PL warehouse performances to ensure
    1. Accurate and prompt Good Receipt into the 3PL warehouses
    2. DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time) to Advanced Energy local factories and overseas sites from 3PLwarehouses
    3. Accurate inventory level in the 3PL warehouses
    4. Full adherence to Customs and SOX compliance by the 3PL warehouses located in bonded area.
  3. Responsible to influence and review 3PL SOP and logistics procedures.  Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities.
  4. Responsible to set Service Level Agreement with the 3PL warehouse operators.
  5. Drive Key Performance Inductors excellence through regular Business Reviews with the 3PL warehouse operators.
  6. Manage international freight and domestics transporters and their performance review.
  7. Accountable for Malaysia logistics cost and budget.
  8. Manage Customs Compliance in the 3PL warehouses. Acts as the Customs subject matter expert with excellent knowledge of Trade compliance and Customs requirements.
  9. Responsible for all staffing activities including hiring, performance appraisal, promotion, discipline, and termination.
  10. Responsible for monitoring individual and team performance, conducting evaluations, and initiating performance-related discussions and improvement plans.
  11. Provides coaching and contributes to the professional growth of Logistics team members.
  12. Has authority to issue warnings and recommend disciplinary actions, including escalations to HR or higher management when needed.
  13. Drives the Logistics team to meet metrics, goals, & objectives and leads improvement projects.
  14. Travel may be required.
  15. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  16. Regularly accesses confidential workforce information such as scheduling decisions, manpower planning, disciplinary records, and business priorities.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
  • Primarily works in a Shipping & 3PL Logistics environment which may be fast paced due to the nature of high voltage product.
  • Works in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Overtime may be necessary in times of increased production.
  • Travel may be required time to time. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Capability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively, and professionally to changing requirements in demand, product description, and material demand.
  • Ability to manage and lead a staff of 10-20 staff.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, coordinate, and negotiate effectively and to set priorities in a manner which ensures maximum performance and goal accomplishment.
  • Good understanding of SAP and the ability to apply logistics processes.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of demand-based manufacturing systems.
  • Good PC skills, including Excel, Word, MS Standard Office.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to motivate others in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to engage and effectively resolve conflict situations and employee disciplinary issues.
  • Ability to collaborate and involve others in decision-making and problem-solving.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) – eight (8) years of experience in industrial materials warehousing, shipping, or other logistic processes, or experience as a Logistics Supervisor, Warehouse Executive, or other closely related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • Experience with proper handling of static sensitive material preferred.
  • Experience with MRP systems and SAP preferred.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Production/Operations Management (or closely related field) or a combination of relevant experience and/or education that is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • APICS CPIM Certification Preferred.
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt certification desired.
