Title:  Sr Manager, Product Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY :

  • Main focus Areas, and scope of work are Product Engineering.
    • Develop and lead a group of Product Engineering Engineer Team and make sure that their skills set are up todate, and develop their technical capabilities as self sustaining Engineering Team.
    • Set up strategy for product engineering group. Regularly review and track the key results.
    • Plan and establish the construction of the team, include the training of the products.

 

JOB OVERVIEW :

  • To ensure achievement of quality, cost and delivery targets of the produced products.
  • To ensure achievement of yield targets of the products.
  • Take the new product from NPD team together with the product knowledge and the following technical support.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Overall responsibility of AE  product and lead cross functional engineering team consisting of test engineer, process engineers, Supplier quality engineering for:-
    • achieving quality, cost, delivery targets.
    • achieving yield and scrap targets.
  2. Ensure implementation and coordination of New product and process releases and related changes.
  3. Responsible for Test data analysis, statistical analysis for yield improvement, lot evaluation and evaluation of Reliability failures. Root cause analysis of failure parts.
  4. Risk assessments, engineering change requests.
  5. In case of quality issues, responsible for implementation of containments, root cause analysis and definition/implementation of corrective actions.
  6. Coaching/Training of Product engineers.
  7. Execute any other related duties assigned by immediate supervisor from time to time.
  8. Work with Design Engineering to develop a product with “Design for Manufacturing / Test”.
  9. Apply the Design FMEA for new products.
  10. Develop Cpk report and work with design to reduce the parametric variation.
  11. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
  • Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).

 

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Able to work in a team for transferring technical known how.
  • Able to perform test data and statistical data analysis, including interpretation.
  • Able to analyze product, production/test related problems and to resolve them.
  • Semiconductor processing and product know-how.
  • Ability to collaborate and involve others in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong and well demonstrated leadership skills in leading a team of engineers.
  • Able to lead technical discussion together with product design team, process engineering, and test engineering.
  • Ability to apply specific, work-related information and observations, to promote, and to facilitate improvements to employees’ job performance.
  • Ability and initiative to identify, address, and resolve employee disciplinary issues.
  • Ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner. Good command of presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of the AE performance appraisal process, as well as familiarity with applicable rules and/or regulations governing the relationship between employee and employer.

 

EXPERIENCE :

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years working experience of product engineering in the semiconductor equipment industry environment.
  • Experience with a high mix/low volume manufactuirng and product manufacturing environment are preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in NPI / Manufacturing Engineering / Operastions Management is required.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in successfully managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in SMT related industry.
  • Familiar with SAP ERP, or similar.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma management.

 

EDUCATION :

Essential :

Bachelor degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

 

Desirable:

  • Master degree is preferred.
