Title:  Quality Control Engineer II (IQC)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a high-caliber Quality professional to drive the technical transformation of our Incoming Quality Control (IQC) department. This is a strategic role focused on modernizing inspection capabilities through automation, ensuring supplier quality readiness for global product transfers, and leading long-term defect prevention initiatives to support our high-mix production ramp-up.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    IQC Capacity Expansion & Operational Governance
•    Technical Oversight: Act as the technical engineering and authority for IQC operations across multiple local sites, ensuring standardized quality protocols.
•    CAPA Management: Drive the Closed-Loop Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process, overseeing the end-to-end tracking, execution, and verification of supplier purges and lot rejections.
•    Supplier Performance: Partnering with Supplier Quality Engineering,  addressing and remediating chronic underperformer suppliers to minimize production risk.
•    Partnering with Supplier Quality Engineering, actively participating in supplier improvement with specific focus on chronic underperformers supplier.

 

2.    IQC Modernization & Technical Roadmap
•    Automated Visual Inspection (AVI): Lead the expansion of AVI for PCBAs, fans, and cosmetic overlays to reduce manual dependency and accelerate defect detection.
•    Parametric & Electrical Testing: Implement automated parametric testing for FETs and active components to enhance electrical screening.
•    Advanced Metrology: Drive mechanical inspection throughput by optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) utilization.
•    pecialized Labs: Deploy advanced tools for incoming inspection. 


3.    Global Product Transfer & Site Enablement

•    Pipeline Management: Qualify the influx of new components associated with global product transfers, ensuring 100% inspection readiness.
•    Operational Readiness: Provide on-site technical support to establish, validate, and stabilize IQC stations at new sites (AETH) to ensure smooth production ramps.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•    Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.

•    Works in a ESD compliance IQC lab environment. 
•    Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
•    Overtime may be necessary in times to meet target set.

•    Regular travelling required to oversee IQC operation at variety location. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Experience: Proven track record in Incoming Quality Control (IQC) within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
•    Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with AVI, CMM, Parametric/Electrical testing, and solderability equipment.
•    Standards Knowledge: Deep understanding of AQL/ANSI sampling plans, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UL, and TUV standards.

•    Engineering Literacy: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
•    Leadership: Strong ability to provide technical oversight and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
•    Soft Skills: Excellent communicator capable of working across different regions and cultures; must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

•    Tooling: Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel/Reporting skills are a significant advantage).
•    Knowledge and understanding of ESD practices.

 

EXPERIENCE:
•    Min 5 years of relevant experience in Incoming Quality Control (IQC).

•    Proven experience supporting High Mix  low volume manufacturing environments.
•    Experience in Product ramp ups and transfers.
•    Multi site or regional quality operations.

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 year of electronic product manufacturing quality inspection experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a team of IQC inspectors or technicians.

 

EDUCATION:
Essential:
•    Degree in Quality, Metrology, Manufacturing, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
