Title: Manager, Production (Hybrids Cleanroom)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Basic functions include planning, scheduling, resource allocation, problem-solving, interviewing, staffing, and employee relations. Acts as a coach and facilitator to lead team members to achieve operational goals and objectives. Builds a shared responsibility work team through development of individual & team skills and competencies. Gets involved with special projects and with the development and delivery of new products and assemblies. Drives activities to improve production efficiency and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, communicates, and executes strategic operational plans aligned with organizational and business unit objectives. Accountable for expense and capital budget management, workforce and resource planning, labor productivity, operational efficiency, goal deployment, and prioritization of resources to achieve production, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Responsible for exercising significant discretion and independent judgment in making operational, financial, and strategic decisions that impact the organization’s direction and performance.
- Establishes departmental yearly/monthly objectives and take initiative to lead production team to achieve the goals and objectives.
- Creates an environment that stimulates new ideas, provides effective work direction and motivation, sets challenging work goals through personal growth, respect, trust, and empowerment of the individual.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, employee development, and team-building to employees. Trains production supervisors, trainers and line leaders to improve their management skills.
- Works cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Materials, Purchasing, and other key interfaces to review, analyze, and optimize new and existing product and processes.
- Teams up with team members to improve products quality and On-Time-Delivery to meet customers’ requirements.
- Improves production efficiency and reduce lead time from order placement to finish goods delivery.
- Develops and implements structures that promote work team ownership of continuous improvement and corrective action processes.
- Facilitates continuous improvement actions in production and engineering related areas.
- Lead the team to drive Kaizen / QCC event.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
- Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to collaborate and involve others in decision-making and problem solving.
- Strong leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and to set priorities.
- Well understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
- Good at motivation and team building.
- Ability to apply specific, work-related information and observations, to promote, and to facilitate improvements to employees’ job performance.
- Ability and initiative to identify, address, and resolve employee disciplinary issues.
- Ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner. Good command of presentation skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the AE performance appraisal process, as well as familiarity with applicable rules and/or regulations governing the relationship between employee and employer.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- Prefer 8+ years of experience in Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing and Operations Management.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
- PC hardware and systems literacy.
- Experience with a high mix/mixed volume part and product manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience in an Operations/Manufacturing/Repair environment required.
Desirable:
- Experience in successfully managing cross-functional teams.
- Experience in SMT related assembly.
- Reflow process
- Soldering process
- Wirebonding process
- Washing/potting process
- Knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is an added advantage.
- Familiar with SAP ERP.
- Prefer self-directed work teams experience.
- Knowledge of 6 Sigma management.
EDUCATION:
Essential :
Bachelor Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Desirable:
- Master’s degree is preferred.
