POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

The Electrical Engineer I performs engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of existing products or systems. Uses research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts. Engineer I will take directions from lead engineer related to program specific work and interact with senior level professionals both internal and external to Advanced Energy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a critical member of the product development engineering team.
  • Assisting in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype electrical and RF subsystems including AC/DC circuits, RF filters, LC resonance circuits, etc.
  • Test products and subsystems using test equipment like Network Analyzer, oscilloscope, LCR Meters, Signal generators, etc.
  • Work on simulation methods to validate the design functionality.
  • Review schematics and troubleshoot the control/logic modules and subsystems.
  • Conduct Design verification testing based on test plans provided by Senior engineers.
  • Work with other cross functional teams such as our NPI, purchasing, quality, program & project management, finance, safety, production, and other teams as needed.
  • Builds peer-to-peer relationships within AE and with key customer technologists

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position is an in person role and based in the Milpitas, CA office.
  • Mix of a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, engineering lab, and/or clean room 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10% of the time. Travel may involve both international and domestic travel to remote sites, customers, and vendors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to support testing and debug using common lab equipment such as Network Analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, function generators, JTAG or similar tools, etc.
  • The ability to assist in analysis, prototyping, simulation, and validation of circuit designs.
  • Be a creative problem solver with a focus on quality, safety, cost, and delivery schedules.
  • Basic programming or scripting skills such as MATLAB and Python.
  • Ability to solve technical problems independently with minimal assistance.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

 

EXPERIENCE:                                              

  • 0 to 2 years’ experience in related industries, preferably working with high power RF systems and subsystems including impedance matching and RF power supply designs, but other relevant industry experience will be considered.

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or similar) technical degree.

 

 

COMPENSATION:                           

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting.  Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  The range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 to $105,000 per year.
