POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Global Account Sales serves as the executive leader for one of Advanced Energy's most strategic global customer relationships. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, strengthening executive-level customer partnerships, and aligning cross-functional resources to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and long-term business success.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and technically adept sales leader with a proven track record of managing complex global accounts within the semiconductor industry. This individual will function as a trusted advisor to customer executives, engineering teams, and business stakeholders while leveraging deep technical knowledge to identify opportunities, influence design decisions, and drive adoption of Advanced Energy solutions.
The Director, Global Account Sales is a hands-on leader who works closely with engineering, product management, operations, applications engineering, and executive leadership teams to develop and execute account strategies that deliver sustainable revenue growth and strengthen Advanced Energy's competitive position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the senior commercial owner and executive sponsor for a strategic global customer, developing and executing multi-year account growth plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customer executives, procurement leaders, engineering organizations, and business decision-makers worldwide.
- Lead complex technical sales engagements, leveraging industry expertise and consultative selling techniques to influence customer roadmaps and design decisions.
- Drive revenue growth through identification of new business opportunities, product adoption initiatives, design wins, and expansion into adjacent programs and business units.
- Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, marketing, operations, and applications teams to align customer requirements with Advanced Energy's technology roadmap.
- Develop and execute customer-specific sales strategies, forecasts, and opportunity pipelines that support annual operating plan (AOP) objectives and long-term growth targets.
- Lead negotiations for commercial agreements, pricing strategies, supply commitments, and long-term partnership arrangements.
- Coordinate global account activities across multiple regions, ensuring consistent customer engagement and communication.
- Establish executive-level business reviews and governance processes to strengthen customer relationships and proactively address business challenges.
- Utilize data, market intelligence, and customer insights to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities.
- Champion customer requirements internally and drive cross-functional alignment to ensure successful program execution and customer satisfaction.
- Mentor sales team members and contribute to the development of best practices across the broader sales organization.
- Work effectively across all levels of the organization and across multiple continents and time zones.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Location: Milpitas, CA
Environment: Standard office environment and regular travel to customer sites
Travel: Domestic and international travel required (approximately 25-40%) to support customer engagements, executive meetings, and business development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated success managing and growing large global accounts within semiconductor equipment, electronics, industrial technology, power conversion, automation, or related high-tech industries.
- Experience leading complex sales cycles involving executive stakeholders, engineering organizations, and global purchasing teams.
- Strong background in solution selling and technical sales.
Desirable
- Experience managing global strategic accounts with annual revenues exceeding $50M.
- Prior experience working within semiconductor, power electronics, industrial equipment, or advanced manufacturing industries.
- Experience collaborating with global engineering and product development organizations.
- Previous people leadership or sales team management experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in technical sales, strategic account management, business development, or commercial leadership roles.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred).
Preferred
- MBA or other advanced business degree.
- Technical certifications, sales leadership training, or industry-specific certifications.
- Advanced degree in Engineering or related technical field.
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting range of base salary for this role is $215,000 to $275,000 per year. This position is also eligible to participate in the Company’s Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) and Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP).
