Title: Sr Test Engineer NPI
The Senior Test Engineer – NPI is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying production test solutions for new electronic products from prototype through mass production. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, test coverage, yield performance, and manufacturing readiness during new product launches.
The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with electronics testing, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced NPI environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead test development activities for new electronic products during NPI phases
- Define and implement production test strategies (ICT, FCT, system-level, functional, and boundary scan)
- Design, validate, and release test fixtures, test software, and automation solutions
- Support prototype, pilot, and MP builds, including on-site test support and debugging
- Collaborate closely with Design, NPI, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
- Drive DFT reviews with hardware and firmware teams to ensure testability
- Develop and maintain test documentation including test plans, specifications, procedures, and reports
- Analyze test data, yields, and coverage; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Support failure analysis and debug hardware, firmware, and manufacturing issues
- Manage test equipment selection, procurement, qualification, and maintenance
- Support test transfer to production and/or contract manufacturers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, cost, and test efficiency
- Mentor junior test engineers and technicians as needed
- Ensure compliance with company quality systems and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- 6–8+ years of experience in electronics test engineering, with strong NPI exposure
- Hands-on experience with:
- ICT, FCT, system-level, and functional test methodologies
- Automated test equipment (ATE) and test fixture design
- Debug of PCBAs and complex electronic systems
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electronics hardware (analog, digital, power, mixed-signal)
- Manufacturing test flows and yield optimization
- Experience working in high-mix / high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
Preferred:
- Experience with LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, or test scripting languages
- Exposure to SMT/TH manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA, IPC standards, and quality systems
- Experience working with EMS partners or global manufacturing sites
- Background in regulated industries (automotive, medical, industrial, aerospace)
