Title: Sr Lead NPI Industrial
The Lead NPI Engineer is responsible for leading the successful introduction of new electronic products from development through full-scale production. This role acts as the technical bridge between design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external suppliers, ensuring products are launched on time, within cost targets, and meet all performance and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong cross-functional communication skills and deep experience in electronics manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all NPI activities from prototype through mass production for electronic products
- Serve as the primary technical owner during product transfer from R&D to Manufacturing
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Design, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Test, and Operations
- Develop and execute NPI project plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies
- Drive DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews to optimize product manufacturability and testability
- Manage prototype builds, pilot runs, and ramp-to-production activities
- Define and validate manufacturing processes, test strategies, fixtures, and tooling
- Lead BOM reviews, process FMEAs, control plans, and work instructions
- Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure readiness and compliance
- Identify and resolve yield, quality, and reliability issues during builds
- Support cost reduction, scalability, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to NPI and manufacturing engineers
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or NPI roles
- Proven experience leading new product launches in a high-volume or complex environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- PCBAs, electromechanical assemblies, and electronic components
- SMT/TH processes and electronic manufacturing equipment
- Manufacturing documentation and change control processes
- Experience working with EMS providers or internal manufacturing teams
- Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience with global manufacturing or supplier management
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or IPC standards
- Experience in regulated industries (automotive, medical, aerospace, etc.)
