Production Manager
Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling manufacturing processes within an electronics production environment. This role ensures that products are manufactured efficiently, on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. The Production Manager leads cross-functional teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures optimal utilization of resources.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Oversee daily production activities for electronic products (e.g., PCB assemblies, consumer electronics, components).
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
- Monitor production processes and adjust workflows to improve efficiency and output.
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet internal and external quality standards (ISO, IPC, customer-specific requirements).
- Collaborate with Quality teams to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for production issues.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and develop production staff, supervisors, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage workforce planning.
Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, cost, and cycle times.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, yield, scrap rate, and throughput.
Supply Chain & Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure material availability.
- Manage inventory levels to support production without overstocking.
- Coordinate with engineering for product changes and new product introductions (NPI).
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a safe working environment and conduct regular safety audits.
- Ensure proper handling of electronic components and hazardous materials if applicable.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
Experience
- 5–8+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or production management.
- Proven experience managing teams in a high-volume production environment.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of PCB assembly processes (SMT, through-hole, testing).
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools.
- Understanding of quality standards (ISO 9001, IPC standards).
