Title: Lead Production Planner

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position coordinates and manages the Planning Department and associated Planners. Provides training and monitors planning activities and metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements the company's production control functions including any of the following activities: production planning/coordination, shop scheduling and dispatching, material requirements, planning systems, work-in-process tracking, material and labor variance controls, and manufacturing performance reporting
- Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
- Responsible for planning, reviewing, and developing production procedures and personnel
- May coordinate activities with materials function using enterprise resource planning systems
- Maintains reports to reflect scheduling, methods, on time delivery and FGI inventory metrics, support performance and process procedures
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Primarily works in an office environment which is normally fast paced
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing
- Capability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively, and professionally to changing requirements in demand, product description, and material demand
- Ability to manage and lead a staff of professional Production Planners
- Ability to organize, schedule, coordinate, and negotiate effectively and to set priorities in a manner which ensures maximum performance and goal accomplishment
- Good understanding of SAP and the ability to apply to manufacturing processes
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of demand-based manufacturing systems
- Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word, MS Standard Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with several projects simultaneously
- Ability to motivate others in a team environment
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a high mix/low volume, pull-based manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in production planning required
- Previous experience managing people desired
EDUCATION:
- BS in Business Administration, Production Operations Management, or closely related field or a combination of relevant experience and/or education, that is equivalent to a four year degree
- APICS CPIM Certification strongly desired
