Title:  Import & Export Specialist

The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and company policies. This role involves handling documentation, monitoring shipments, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to guarantee timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Customs Compliance: Ensure all import/export activities comply with local and international regulations, including customs clearance and trade compliance requirements.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
  • Coordination: Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to track shipments and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations affecting company operations.
  • Cost Optimization: Negotiate shipping rates and identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs without compromising service quality.
  • Inventory & ERP Management: Update and maintain accurate records in ERP systems related to shipments and inventory.
  • Problem Resolution: Address delays, discrepancies, or compliance issues to minimize impact on supply chain operations.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports on import/export activities, costs, and compliance status for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years in import/export operations or international logistics.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade laws.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), International Trade Certification.
  • Languages: English and Spanish proficiency (additional languages are a plus).
