Network Administrator
Responsible in designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining an organization's LANs, WANs, and internet systems. They monitor network performance, ensure security, and troubleshoot issues to maximize uptime and efficiency. Key tasks include managing routers, switches, firewalls, and server hardware, plus providing technical support to users.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design & Deployment: Design, install, and configure LANs, WANs, Voice Infra and wireless networks.
- Hardware/Software Maintenance: Install and maintain network equipment, including firewalls, switches, routers, and load balancers.
- Network Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput) using tools to detect bottlenecks and ensure optimal uptime.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and manage security protocols, firewalls, and access controls.
- Troubleshooting: Resolve network connectivity issues, analyze traffic, and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation regarding network configurations, IP addresses, and incident reports.
- Capacity Planning: Evaluate network capacity and assist in planning for future expansion or upgrades.
- Network Maintenance: Installing and maintaining LANs, WANs, network segments, and internet/intranet systems.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitoring network efficiency to ensure high availability and performance.
- Security Management: Implementing, updating, and patching network security measures, such as firewalls and antivirus software.
- System Upgrades: Configuring and deploying new network hardware (routers, switches, servers) and software.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining network diagrams, documentation, and user access records.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Usually 2+ years of experience in network administration or a related IT role.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP), network infrastructure, and operating systems.
- Hardware Proficiency: Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Common Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Network+ certification.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
