Title: Failure Analysis Technician
The Failure Analysis Technician - Intermediate is responsible for diagnosing, analyzing, and documenting failures in electronic assemblies, particularly power supplies and circuit boards. This role focuses on identifying root cause of failures using technical expertise, interpretation of schematics, and use of electronic diagnostic tools to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform detailed failure analysis on electronic assemblies including SMT and through-hole technologies.
- Diagnose failures in power supplies and power control circuits using standard test equipment.
- Interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting activities.
- Identify root cause of defects and provide clear, data-driven feedback to engineering and quality teams.
- Execute functional testing and verification after repair or corrective actions.
- Document analysis results in formal reports, including failure mode, root cause, and corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement and corrective action processes (CAPA).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, test engineering, and quality.
- Assist in development and improvement of troubleshooting procedures and work instructions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Location: Manufacturing Plant in Mexicali.
- Environment: Manufacturing floor, laboratory, and repair stations.
- Physical Requirements: Standing for extended periods, handling electronic assemblies, use of microscopes and small tools.
SKILLS:
- Proficient use of electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies, electronic loads).
- Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Solid knowledge of circuit analysis and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience analyzing power electronics and switching power supplies.
- Understanding of SMT and through-hole component technologies.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Teamwork, accountability, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to understand and follow technical instructions in English (minimum 70%).
EXPERIENCE:
- Essential: Minimum 3 years of experience in failure analysis or repair of electronic assemblies, preferably in power electronics.
- Desirable: Experience in manufacturing or test environment in electronics industry.
EDUCATION:
- Essential: Electronic Technician Degree or related field (Electronics, Mechatronics).
