POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

The Product Manager manages product lines leading to strong profitability and increase in revenue and market share. Responsible for aspects of product management for Electrostatic Chuck Controllers and High Voltage Amplifiers product line which is part of the HVS group (High Voltage Systems Group), including (but not limited to) product strategy, market/customer requirements analysis, competitor product/pricing analysis, assessment of new/growing markets and general business opportunities. Interacts with a wide selection of functions across the Advanced Energy (AE) organization.



  • Manages lifecycles of products from concept through launch, to end of life and obsolescence, with attention to maximizing profit through a combination of pricing, cost-reduction initiatives, and customer management.
  • Defines and implements sustaining & end-of-life strategies for mature or declining product lines, with attention to maximizing profit and minimizing excess and obsolete materials.
  • Assesses viability of product concepts & customization requests to meet worldwide market, financial, and technology goals.
  • Owns the product line PPG (Program Priority Group), program priority, success scores, forecast, ROI, customer adoption, updates, and regular reporting.
  • Creates/contributes to the input for the end-market section of both Marketing Requirement Documents (MRDs) for new product developments and Product Marketing Plans for continued growth and expansion of existing products lines or into new markets.
  • Assist Engineering in resolving technical questions during the Request for Quote (RFQ) process and provide a strong direct interface between the customer and engineering teams.
  • Regularly reports directional revenue, sales forecast, current opportunities, and strategic direction to the HVS Director Product Marketing and HVS General Manager.
  • Supports the development and updating of AE’s annual strategic plan.
  • Assists with regular forecasting and demand analysis, interacting with customers and global sales.
  • Research and collect data that will feed into new product plans, including critical features, price targets, competitive positioning and long-term customer forecast, trends and product roadmap understanding.
  • Interfaces with Sales, Engineering, Service, Operations, Corporate Marketing, Quality, and other internal/external customers to ensure high levels of end customer satisfaction, new products meet current and future customer requirements, cost expectations and achieve customer adoption.
  • Tracks/understands market trends, both technical and business, and gathers market intelligence through research and customer visits to monitor market growth/decline and help manage business cycles.


Since not all managers and partners will report to this person, he or she will need to have the experience, skills, personality, and communication skills to gain the support and respect of managers and individual contributors across the company, creating an environment for effective leadership.

  • Technical/technology understanding to enable communication of specification and creation of MRDs.

  • 5-10 years of experience in product management or directly related position.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing at least one direct report.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Advanced Business degree, including M.S., Ph.D, or MBA highly desirable.
