POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Quality Manager reports to Trek Site General Manager and is responsible for developing and implementing effective continuous improvement plans, managing multiple quality system processes, and ensuring ongoing certification to ISO 9001 standards. This role is also responsible for leading a staff of Inspectors, Quality Engineer, Documentation Control Specialist, Calibrations.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages internal Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) process; determines deliverables, communicates expectations, establishes timelines, and follows up.
  • Ensures ongoing ISO 9001 certification and readiness for audits; creates improvement plans, action plans, timelines and executes.
  • Leads all audits either customer, ISO, UL or other governing agency.
  • Drives proactive improvements to products based on quantitative analysis.
  • Leads improvement actions to enhance quality performance of existing products.
    • Makes knowledgeable, data-driven decisions that drive effective change for all areas in Operations regarding First Pass Yield (FPY) and Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY).
    • Works effectively with Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Service and Sales Teams to drive improvements.
    • Leads, promotes and drives process control and improvement methodologies.
  • Analyzes field failures – root cause, containment, corrective action
    • Works with other departments, customers and suppliers to eradicate root cause.
    • Coordinates with other departments failure analysis reports, data analysis, corrective action, root cause analysis, and quality performance reports.
  • Collects, reviews, evaluates, and compiles test and reliability reports for internal and external customers.
  • Owns quality and reliability metrics for products supported.
  • Performs data collection and analyses, paretos, trends of nonconforming material, work in process and finished goods.
  • Reviews and analyzes data trends and PPM with engineering and manufacturing to mitigate negative trends.
  • Ensures ESD controls are effective and maintained.
  • Reviews, develops and updates inspection control plans for NPD and sustaining products.
  • Validates inspection processes for both internal and external manufacturing (suppliers).
  • Ensures the appropriate inspection of incoming mechanical and electrical products, machined parts, and sub-assemblies and participates in first article inspection and audits.
  • Supervises Quality Inspectors, Quality Engineer, Documentation Control Specialist and Calibrations; manages, mentors, and motivates staff; provides direction, ensures appropriate training, delegates work and coordinates schedules, monitors performance and takes appropriate and timely disciplinary action as needed.
  • Develops employees to be more effective and to advance toward their career goals.  Track performance to established goals.
  • Performs quality work within deadlines with minimal to no supervision.
  • Interacts professionally with management, employees, customers, and/or suppliers.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Typically works in a professional, office environment.  Interacts with lab and manufacturing personnel.  Occasional travel to domestic and international support offices, design centers, manufacturing locations, and customers is expected.

Essential:

Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical degree

 

Desirable:

ASQ Certifiied
