Title:  Inside Sales Engineer

The Inside Sales Engineer (ISE) is the inside technical sales point-of-contact for handheld instrument product lines.  The ISE provides technical product information and support and plays a critical consultative role in assisting customers to make their buying decision.​ In addition, they capture and document customer questions to guide the buyer’s journey on the website.   



  • Use technical product knowledge of multiple AE product lines to determine customers’ needs and proactively suggest solutions to customers and potential customers; advise customers on the integration of AE products in their systems
  • Assist customers and prospective customers in selecting parts
  • Direct sales leads to appropriate Regional Sales Managers, sales representatives, and distributors
  • Communicate directly and often with Regional Sales Managers, sales representatives, and distributors to ensure all customers are satisfied
  • Provide updates to Sales on any and all major issues as they arise
  • Works with design engineers to assist in the integration of products into customer design
  • Function as a subject matter expert (SME) for customer technical staff regarding proposed solution and its design, configuration, installation specifics
  • Write user manuals, marketing and training materials
  • Work closely with Applications Engineering, Product Engineers and Product Managers to answer challenging or unique questions
  • Propose and implement improvements to processes, procedures, structures, and reporting to support rapid business growth
  • Provide basic technical support to the sales team



  • Strong PC skills, proficient in Microsoft Office product suite including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Familiarity with CRM
  • Self managed and motivated.​  Desire to learn new technologies and solutions.
  • Able to read and interpret specifications in RFQ/RFPs
  • Effective time management.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Superior problem solving skills and the desire to help find solutions to customer’s needs
  • Team-oriented attitude.​ Works well with others and supports company goals.



  • Experience selling technical products
  • Knowledge of sales processes including qualifying customers, providing solutions and enabling purchase decisions



  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Inside Sales Engineer
