Advanced Energy has immediate need to fill an Engineering Technician role in our RF Product Development Engineering team in Fort Collins, Colorado. The role gives opportunity to work with an experienced team of professionals with a broad mix of skills in high-end switch mode power electronics design, highly engineered RF power systems optimized (typically) for high power plasma processing applications, RF measurement techniques, control systems, embedded systems, digital control, and much more. Looking for candidates with strong fundamentals in; electronics theory, modeling/simulation, and testing/evaluation of new design solutions.   • Supports engineering activities such as test, verification, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions
  • Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.  Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions
  • Assists in the design, construction, test, and calibration of test equipment
  • Uses manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including test software, general instrumentation, and complex test systems
  • Performs support functions for development including documentation and procurement



Essential skills;

  • Must have strong electro-mechanical problem-solving attributes
  • Able to operate a variety of common electrical test instruments including; oscilloscope, network analyzer, power supplies, frequency generators, etc.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within product development
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under minimal supervision
  • Able to execute to specific plans
  • Able to execute to plans where a degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Basic analog and digital circuit design
  • Basic familiarity with simulation tools (circuit simulation and modeling)
  • Familiar with PCBA schematic and layout process
  • Hands-on prototyping/fabrication skills
  • Highly desireable skills / experience;
  • Experience in the development of any of the following; DC power converters, RF power systems, RF measurement systems, RF Match networks, Logic and Control Hardware, Firmware
  • Experience in the development of industrial products
  • Specific tool knowledge; LTSpice®, MATLAB, Python™, ALTIUM DESIGNER®, SolidWorks®, Advanced Design System (ADS), ANSYS HFSS, Mathcad
  • Any other relevant development tools or programming languages



  • Greater than 5 years of relevant design/development team experience and/or manufacturing support




  • Associates Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline and/or extensive related experience


Compensation: $50,000-75,000
