POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

Advanced Energy is looking for an experienced Test Development Engineer to join our team in Fort Collins Colorado.  The Test Engineer designs, develops, and implements cost-effective solutions for manufacturing tests for several high frequency, high voltage circuits and systems that ensure high quality standards. The position performs a variety of technical, multi-disciplined tasks early in the Product Development Process to provide timely, flexible, universal tools and processes. The Test Engineer makes knowledgeable, data-driven decisions and employs innovative technologies with optimal control and maximum speed and flexibility.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure testability and serviceability of existing product designs, providing feedback to test and design teams addressing opportunities for defect resolution and continuous improvement in manufacturing
  • Maintains and updates test and diagnostic programs, maintains and updates test fixtures and equipment, maintains and updates specifications and procedures for existing products and for product design changes throughout the product’s lifecycle
  • Accurately estimate project costs and schedules associated with implementing test solution updates
  • Owns test requirements from the vendor, to shipment, to the customer
  • Verify products meet their functional requirements - including design verification and manufacturing screens
  • Analyze capabilities and ensure control of critical parameters of products and test equipment
  • Support test transfer, setup, and qualification at new/another manufacturing location

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly working in lab, office, and manufacturing facilities with power output up to 60 kW. Travel to international manufacturing and/or development locations may be required throughout the product’s lifecycle.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing test environment
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence design team decisions
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex technical problems with minimal assistance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Expertise in programming automation and data collection
  • Programming experience in NI LabVIEW and TestStand, C++, SQL, and/or Python
  • Object Oriented Programming Skills preferred
  • 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:                                  

  • Minimum of 5 years of product test development experience
  • Experience in power supply testing or design preferred
  • Experience with a variety of General-Purpose Test Equipment use and automation Including: Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, DAQs, and Switches
  • Source Code control experience

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering discipline

 

COMPENSATION:                

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 to $130,000 per year.
