POSITION SUMMARY:

The Test Engineering Manager - Software and Hardware is accountable for project, resource, and technical management related to all technical capabilities for new product development for Advanced Energy.  The Test Engineering Manager - Software and Hardware demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.  In this technical role, you will integrate and develop processes, methodologies, software, and manage complex issues within new product development and integration with manufacturing and global repair service.  You will develop and support test solutions for plasma power products using applicable hardware, software, and procedures for new product introduction and on-going product support. This role is responsible for overseeing, managing, and leading allocated resources devoted to key technology and product development, and responding to customer inquiries as necessary. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages a technical team of Engineers who develop and execute functional and automated tests for products and their associated features.
  • Plans and oversees new development projects to include data analysis, test plan/flow, test procedure, test methodology, project management, test report preparation and failure investigation.
  • Liaises with the PMO to plan resource and time frames to test new products and existing product updates by scoping work and providing input to the master project plan.
  • Test hardware implementation and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Firmware engineers to define and document product test requirements.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate.
  • Defines and implements “best practice” methodology for the department.
  • Assures proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.  Verify technical accuracy of work.
  • Detailed understanding of electronic components, component and unit test methodology, diagnostic and debug techniques.
  • General knowledge of quality and reliability principles.
  • Develop and deploy new capabilities, specifications, processes and standards for personnel, equipment, and software to support company objectives.
  • Draft, present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.  Communicate technical issues with clients as required
  • Hire, train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff; oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Write performance reviews and resolve internal issues
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing technical reports, approving expenditures, develop cost estimates, enforcing and develop rules and policies.
  • Develops the project management and technical skills of direct reports.
  • Develops new product platforms and derivative products.
  • Manages a cost center budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Conceive appropriate architectures for new products, balancing the requirements of performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Solve complex technical problems independently.
  • Interact effectively with customers.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Successfully manage the development of new products.
  • Demonstrate excellent program management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work within standard office environment

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years experience in testing and processes around testing (SDLC)
  • Previous experience managing engineering projects or small engineering teams.
  • Proven experience to lead any group.
  • Experience in software development and deployment

 

EDUCATION:

  • Technical Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer or similar, or equivalent work experience in related field.

 

COMPENSATION: $115,000 - $155,000
