POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to join our RF Delivery Systems team. This role focuses on embedded firmware development in C++ for real-time operating systems (RTOS), supporting advanced RF power delivery systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems, leadership in technical projects, and a deep understanding of real-time firmware design and RF system integration.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Lead and contribute to all phases of the firmware development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, integration, and testing.
- Develop and maintain embedded C++ applications on microcontrollers and SoCs running RTOS.
- Collaborate with hardware, RF, and systems engineers to define and implement firmware interfaces and control algorithms.
- Analyze and optimize real-time performance of firmware subsystems.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance in firmware architecture and best practices.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test procedures.
- Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers) to debug and validate firmware.
- Contribute to Agile development processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- In office first, Fort Collins, Colorado
- Mix of a standard office environment and engineering lab utilizing standard office equipment
SKILLS
- Expertise in C++ for embedded systems.
- Extensive experience with RTOS-based development (e.g., FreeRTOS, ThreadX, etc.).
- Strong understanding of embedded peripherals (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, USB).
- Proven ability to design and optimize real-time firmware systems.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment for debugging and validation.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and Agile development practices.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, TCL, or similar).
- Knowledge of RF systems or power electronics is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership in technical projects or mentoring roles.
EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in RF or power electronics applications.
EDUCATION
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (M.S. preferred).
COMPENSATION
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 to $115,000 per year.
