Position Summary

The RF Engineer performs engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of RF products or systems. In this role, you will design to customer requirements to ensure that AE’s products work effectively in their applications. Utilization of research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts is a key part of this role. The RF Engineer provides direction and leadership to more junior engineers and engineering technicians related to program specific work, and interacts with senior level profesionals both internal and external to Advanced Energy.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and analysis of RF power amplifier systems and/or switch mode DC front ends to source RF PAs, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address.
  • Responsible for many aspects of programs or projects and the corresponding administrative documentation and paperwork.
  • Assumes responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process.

 

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in the Fort Collins, CO office.
  • Mix of a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, a noisy fast-paced lab, and/or clean room 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10% of the time. Travel may involve both international and domestic travel to remote sites, customers, and vendors.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for determining appropriate action and obtaining solutions.
  • Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of industry practices, analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools including scripting languages, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design work, and selecting appropriate components and materials for designs.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems independently with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor more junior team members.
  • Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Science or similar field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Compensation:   $70,000-95,000
