POSITION SUMMARY:                                   

Advanced Energy is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Remote Plasma Sources engineering team in Fort Collins, Colorado. The ideal candidate will perform applied research, design, development, testing, and documentation of products or systems. Would work closely with other engineers and technicians to ensure system requirements are met and that the product works in the intended application. This will include lab work in assembling and testing remote plasma units as well as hands-on electrical troubleshooting of prototype units.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the design, analysis and testing of RF systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals
  • Support design, analysis and testing of DC switching power supplies
  • Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions.
  • Perform experiments and product testing along with other engineers and technicians on a multi-disciplinary design team
  • Work with vendors and in-house materials team to produce manufacturable and reliable designs
  • Use RF hybrid modules, RF components in multiple-kW RF systems
  • Work with other engineering teams in Asia and the US
  • Occasional work with customers to meet product performance needs
  • Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process
  • Documentation of designs, validation in the end use environment

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in both a standard office environment as well as a lab and/or clean room
  • Must be able to travel 10% of the time. Travel involves international and domestic travel to customers and vendors

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Read, understand and edit schematics of RF and analog circuits, model RF circuits
  • Knowledge of PCBA layout principles as applied to RF circuits and DC switching power supplies
  • Demonstrated ability to design and specify components in high power RF circuit design
  • Able to work independently with little instruction/oversight
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to work safely and in an organized fashion in a fast-paced lab
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Documentation of experiments, designs
  • Use of PCBA design packages, Altium preferred
  • Use of RF simulation software
  • Use of analysis software (LTSPICE)

 

EXPERIENCE:                                         

  • 0-5 years engineering experience, RF PCBA design

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                                    

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration on RF or Power Electronics (or similar)

 

COMPENSATION:                   

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 per year.
