POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

Advanced Energy is currently hiring an Engineering Technician to support engineering activities such as design, test, verification, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions
  • Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions
  • Assists in the design, construction, test, and calibration of test equipment
  • Uses manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including test software, general instrumentation, and complex test systems
  • Ensure testability of product, providing feedback to design teams addressing opportunities for defects in manufacturing and field use
  • Own the test requirements from the vendor to shipment to the customer
  • Verify products meet their functional requirements - including design verification and manufacturing screens
  • Prepares test and diagnostic programs, repairs test fixtures and equipment, and updates specifications and procedures for service products
  • Analyze capabilities and ensure control of critical parameters on products and test equipment
  • Sets up, calibrates, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs test stations
  • Identifies product, system application, and operator-related issues quickly
  • Communicates with engineers, service staff, and managers regarding problems to provide information leading to root cause corrective action
  • Performs support functions including instruction, documentation, and procurement
  • Accurately estimate project costs as associated with implementing test solutions

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in a manufacturing/service environment which may be noisy, dirty and fast paced
  • At times the job can be physically demanding, the candidate should be in good physical shape and must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Tasks can be repetitive in motion and include the use of electronic assembly equipment (wire strippers, wire cutters, crimpers)
  • Because of the nature of the product being produced, high voltage and current conditions exist
  • Travel to international manufacturing and/or service locations may also be required from time to time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have strong electro-mechanical problem-solving attributes. Able to operate a variety of electrical test instrumentation
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant design/development team and/or manufacturing support
  • Basic knowledge of Altium, Cadence, Excel, LabVIEW, TestStand, MATLAB, Python, SQL database, SAP, Knowledge of switch mode power supplies and matching networks – preferred

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

  • Associates Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent job experience

 

COMPENSATION:                           

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $70,000 to $85,000 per year.
