Title:  Field Applications Engineering (FAE) Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

Advanced Energy is looking for power electronics technician to support the Field Applications Engineering (FAE) team to help drive sales growth in the industrial and medical power supply segment.  The technician will collaborate with the FAE team to provide highly differentiated technical support to our customers to drive design wins for a diverse set of applications and customers in the Americas.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and runs tests on power supplies to match customer application conditions
  • Does small modifications and assembly on products for customer evaluation
  • Performs rework, both hardware and firmware updates, for preproduction samples
  • Performs onsite customer visits with Field Applications Engineers to do firmware updates, system assembly, and basic functional tests
  • Creates documentation for and conducts experiments to demonstrate product capabilities
  • Troubleshoots problems with customer equipment or applications
  • Creates custom cabling, connectors, bus bars, etc.
  • Manages stock of accessories, demos, programming equipment, etc. to expedite FAE work
  • Keeps calibrations of stock current
  • Helps prepare hardware for trainings and tradeshows
  • Travels as needed to support FAE team activities (15%-20% domestic travel)

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works onsite in a standard office environment and in labs
  • Overtime (OT) may be required during peak times
  • Anticipated travel around 15%-20% within the US

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Attention to detail in performing and documenting testing
  • Solid problem-solving methodology
  • A passionate and curious technologist with an ability to learn and adapt to new products
  • Basic understanding of circuit component functions
  • Basic knowledge of digital communication bus such as I2C and Modbus

 

EXPERIENCE:                                  

  • Minimum of 3 years of technician or applications experience
  • Proven ability and experience maintaining flexibility and being able to adapt in a team environment

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

  • Associate’s degree in engineering and/or certificate in a related field

 

COMPENSATION:               

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $31.50 to $41.50 per hour.
