Title:  Rotational Technical Sales Representative

POSITION SUMMARY:                                  

Advanced Energy is looking for an Electrical Engineer or equivalent new college graduate to go through a one year long rotation program to develop a broad set of skills before they are deployed as a Technical Sales Representative.  During the rotation program, they will work at multiple different Advanced Energy locations to develop the skills in how to prospect and penetrate new and existing accounts and manage and leverage our external sales partners and distributor network to achieve their objectives.

 

They will also collaborate with the field application team, product line marketing, customer service representatives, and other AE groups to drive results at a diverse set of applications and customers.

 

The Rotations will consist of…

 

1. Sales and Field Applications: In this rotation, they work closely with a local AE sales/applications team, offering first-hand experience of our sales process. They will interface with customers and internal teams to uncover, communicate, and win customer opportunities.

2. eSales: This rotation provides additional customer interactions by working with our global eSales and Regional sales teams to find, qualify, and follow-up on leads AE receives through multiple methods. It will help them to understand our process on how leads are gathered and the process used to qualify, follow-up, and turn into Design Wins and revenue for AE.

3. Product Marketing: This rotation focuses on the relationship between sales and one of AE’s product lines. It will help them understand product life cycles, roadmap development, marketing approaches, and ways sales collaborates with the product line to win at the customer.

The program provides experiences that help rising AEers understand how to successfully grow their business and to thrive throughout their entire AE career.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grows Advanced Energy revenue within assigned region or accounts through customer expansion, building a funnel, managing opportunities, and winning the programs.
  • Assesses and qualifies sales opportunities to provide direction and guidance for the rest of the organization. Includes ongoing updates of opportunities and forecasts in Salesforce.com.
  • Establishes differentatiated relationships at assigned accounts through face-to-face meetings to ensure an intimate, timely, and firsthand knowledge of customers’ needs and desires and works to exceed them.
  • Develops and executes sales penetration strategies for key accounts and region.
  • Works with customers and our Field Applications Engineers to identify and define new product requirements. Feedbacks this information  to Product marketing teams so they can develop improved solutions.
  • Manages external sales partners; which includes growing AE’s mindshare, regular customer visits with them, providing ongoing product training, and other acitivites as needed.
  • Manages Distribution partners in assigned region; including joint sales calls and regular product training for local branches.
  • Provides initial level of support at accounts and arranges for advanced levels of support from AE customer service, applications, engineering, marketing, etc.

                                     

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Denver, CO; some domestic and international travel may be required
  • Environment: Standard office environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to effectively balance strong technical skills with solid relationship-building capabilities
  • Ability to learn about a customer system and what their power requirements are
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to get things done
  • Strong written, verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people across various functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.

 

EDUCATION:   

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher

                                                                                   

COMPENSATION:               

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $66,000 to $100,000 base salary per year.  

 

Additionally, this position is eligible for the Sales Incentive Plan with a specific target amount to be determined based on the role.
